Hygienist

Band 1 Course of Treatment
This includes examination, diagnosis (including x-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, scale and polish if clinically necessary, and preventive care such as, where appropriate, applying fluoride varnish or fissure sealant.

Band 2 Course of Treatment
This covers all of the items listed in Band 1, plus any additional treatment such as fillings, root canal work or teeth removal but not more complex items covered by Band 3.

Band 3 Course of Treatment
This covers all of the bands 1 and 2, plus crowns, dentures, bridges and other laboratory work.

Emergency Dental Treatment
This includes emergency care in an NHS dental practice such as relief of pain or temporary filling.
